UTAG Honours NAPO, Describes Him As Visionary

The University Teachers Association of Ghana( UTAG) has conferred honours on the Education Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.

Describing him as a visionary in a citation read by Dr. Eric Opoku, outgoing President of UTAG, the Education Minister was also commended for availing himself for discussions on the welfare and progress of university teachers and students.

The group stressed that Dr. NAPO had always had a listening ear for all concerns from their end.

This attitude of the Minister, the group noted has helped to make the Education Ministry the most successful one in the NPP government.

FREE SHS IMPLEMENTATION:
UTAG believes the determined and fair-minded spirit of the Education Minister no wonder enabled him to implement the free SHS policy in record time.

The group said with all the attendant bottlenecks that were envisaged during the rollout of the Policy, Dr NAPO had with a careful strategy meandered his way to make the Free SHS policy a seamless one.

The Education Ministry, the citation acknowledged is a difficult one to manage.

UTAG, therefore, commended the Minister for staying ahead of time to ensure the Free SHS and other reforms including the ones implemented in the universities become a success.

STRATEGIC:
Describing the Minister as a wise man, UTAG believes the calm nature of Dr. NAPO has ensured that all reforms intended for the ministry has gone on smoothly.

The restoration of the book and research allowance and many others for university lecturers UTAG noted has ensured high morale in their front.

The group said but for the mental toughness of the Minister he would have caved into attacks from critics who are opposed to the policies the government was determined to implement.

UTAG finally noted that for the Education Minister to last in the ministry for almost three years shows how diligent he is since previous ministers before him barely lasted for two years.
