Francis Adomako, Ashanti Regional Organiser for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has commenced a tour of all the 47 constituencies in the Ashanti Region to whip up residents to vote ‘YES’ in the upcoming referendum on the 17th of December, 2019.
Speaking to Kingdomfmonline.com after touring the Asawase and the Mampong Constituencies, Mr. Adomako said the decision to tour was borne out of his conviction that a Yes vote will help residents get proper accountability from the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) they would elect in future.
He argued that the current situation where these MMDCEs are appointed by the president does not give people enough power to demand accountability.
Mr. Adomako said the current Chief Executives serve at the behest of the President unlike what will pertain after a Yes vote in the upcoming referendum.
‘’Unlike the current MMDCEs having their way to do what they deem fit once they are carrying out instructions from the President, their election will force them to take the concerns and issues of residents onboard’’, Mr. Adomako stated.
Sounding elated after the tour of the two constituencies, the vociferous organiser said deliberations have been fruitful.
He noted that opinion leaders as well as residents he has encountered show signs of understanding the concept of the referendum.
According to Mr. Adomako, the yes vote would receive massive endorsements if what the two constituencies have shown is a yardstick to go by.
The very idea that residents would vote in their preferred candidates as MMDCE, the regional organiser mentioned is a good exercise.
Mr. Francis Adomako speaking at both the Asawase and Mampong Constituencies on the need for people to vote yes in the upcoming referendum.
‘’I am very convinced that after the tour of the 47 constituencies the Yes vote will be dominant at the polls if I am to go by the massive endorsements people in the Mampong and Asawase constituencies have shown’’, Mr. Adomako posited.
The regional organizer appealed to party executives as well as NPP faithful to carry out education in any way they can to whip up support for the upcoming referendum.
He asked that they provide good reasons just as he has espoused to ensure people clearly identify with the yes vote idea.
