NSS Releases 130,000 Pins For 2020/2021 Service Postings  …

Deputy Executive Director of National Service Scheme, Gifty Oware-Aboagye has disclosed that, the National Service Secretariat (NSS) has released a total of One Hundred and Thirty Thousand (130,000) PIN Codes for eligible Ghanaians from all accredited Tertiary Institutions in the country to enable them enroll to do their mandatory National Service for the 2020/2021 service year.

She disclosed this in an exclusive interview with Kwame Tutu on ‘Anopa Nkomo’ on Accra base Kingdom FM.

Gifty Oware-Aboagye debunked reports purporting that, the National Service Secretariat has suspended 2020/2021 mandatory National Service as part of efforts put in place to help fight the coronavirus infection in the country

According to her, the only authority to call off or suspend 2020/2021 mandatory National Service is the Board of the National Service Secretariat adding that, “Not a single day has the national service secretariat announced the suspension of 2020/2021 mandatory national service”.

“Even just last week, we’ve issued pins for 2020/2021 batch. As at now, the 130,000 piece we issued, fast close to about 60,000 have registered into the system. The release of the PIN codes is to enable these final year students to enroll to do their mandatory national service for the 2020/2021 service year”, she noted.

Explaining the major issues associated with the postings of National Service Personnel’s, she indicated that, the secretariat take into consideration the programme students read in their various tertiary institutions as well as their skill set, qualifications and how useful they will be their agency.

“Secondly we consider Personnel’s with specific medical health conditions, nursing and breastfeeding mothers, newly married couple and pregnant women. The Secretariat seek to it that such persons are been posted to areas closer to their family. And finally we consider Personnel’s with special postings”, she added

She further revealed that, the National Service Scheme has been digitized fully in order to avoid human interference amid the coronavirus pandemic on the country.

She emphasized that, this system will enable Personnel to successfully complete their service registration processes with immediacy.
