Stonebwoy will return to the renowned Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) in 2022, two years after being banned from the show by the organizers in 2019.
The president of BhimNation chose two choices for this year’s award nominations, which were announced on Saturday.
They were nominated in the categories of Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year and Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year.
Two of his hit tracks, ‘1Gad’ and ‘Greedy Men,’ were nominated twice in the same category, Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year.
In the category of Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year, he’s up against KiDi (Touch It), Samini (Picture), Larusso (New Gen), and Epixode (Odeshie) in that category, and Samini, Epixode, and Larusso in the Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year category.
After a confrontation on the VGMA stage during the 2019 edition, Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale were banned from participating in the VGMAs indefinitely.
The two musicians, according to the organizers of Charter House, violated the scheme’s code of conduct, resulting in the ban. They were exempted from the 2020 edition of the award presentation as a result of the ban.
The VGMA agreed to abolish the prohibition in 2021, but the two opted not to participate in the award that year.
