Haaland And Camavinga Face Mission Impossible If They Sign F …
Erling Haaland and Eduardo Camavinga are two of the most sought-after teenagers on the planet.
Both have been linked with moves to Real Madrid this summer, but neither would be guaranteed game time at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
It was for similar reasons that Los Blancos missed out on Kylian Mbappe, who wanted to be assured that he’d play during a time when the BBC trident were at the top of their game.
Since Sergio Ramos arrived in 2005, many youngsters have struggled to establish themselves at Real Madrid.
It’s a challenge facing the likes of Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo Goes, Reinier Jesus, Brahim Diaz, Fede Valverde and Andriy Lunin right now.
Some have succeeded, like Valverde who, even after a difficult 2018/19 campaign, has broken into the starting line-up this season.
Some, however, have found it more difficult to make the desired impact.
An example of those is Theo Hernandez, who signed for Los Blancos as a 19-year-old and left after a season and a half in Marcelo‘s shadow.
Martin Odegaard, Jesus Vallejo, Achraf Hakimi, Borja Mayoral and Luca Zidane have also been forced to look elsewhere, if only temporarily, because of a lack of opportunities.
Marcos Asensio signed for Real Madrid as a 20-year-old in 2016 but has never been able to really nail down a starting place.
The same goes for academy graduates too, like Alvaro Morata and Jese Rodriguez who have been made to pursue their careers elsewhere.
Patience can often be key in these situations and Raphael Varane is a role model in this instance.
He had second thoughts after finding himself behind both Ramos and Pepe in the pecking order after arriving as an 18-year-old in 2011.
However, the Frenchman has stuck at it, managed to break that particular partnership and installed himself as a key player at the club.
Other talented youngsters like Sergio Canales, Royston Drenthe and Gonzalo Higuain weren’t as successful.
The list of let-downs is extensive when it comes to Real Madrid and youngsters, a list that Haaland and Camavinga won’t want to join.
