Papa Yaw Asare Bediako John, the constituency secretary for the Asokwa branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has rebuffed claims that he was part of a plan to lock the party offices to deny an aspirant the opportunity to pick nomination forms.
Speaking to Wofa Kofi Appiah, Morning Show Host at Boss FM and monitored by Kingdomfmonline.com, the Constituency Secretary said the branch does not have the forms as at now.
He noted that there was no way that he would deny anybody from picking forms since he knows the rules governing the ongoing exercise.
Papa Yaw, as the Secretary is fondly referred to by party members revealed that he would make the nomination forms available to anyone interested in purchasing the same.
“Wofa I must put it on record that Asokwa as a constituency does not have the forms and as soon as the regional chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako makes them available to me I would make them available to anyone who would want to purchase same”, the secretary posited.
The constituency secretary disclosed that the party’s offices are opened from Monday to Friday for business and party activities.
He noted that apart from him there is an administrative officer who is ever-present at the office every day to see to whoever visits.
Papa Yaw said on Monday the administrator informed him of visiting the Agogo hospital to seek care at the Ear and Throat department hence the absence of same at the office.
The secretary also noted that his doors are always open to attend to anyone who wants clarification on any party matter and added that he is ready to offer support to anyone who wants to pick nomination forms when they are made available to him.
“No one can shut the NPP office at Asokwa because it is set out to be open to attend to party people and residents in the constituency and I assure you that it will remain so”, Papa Yaw passionately stressed.
The constituency secretary advised party members to consult his office or that of the other executives anytime they need help or clarification on matters.
He asked members to use party structures in conveying their grievances or seeking redress on concerns they may have.
The Secretary intimated that the scene created at the party’s office could have been avoided if the right procedure was used.
He noted that even when those who visited the offices had called him he would have gladly explained to them why the administrator was not around as well why the forms had not been made available to the constituency.
“We are a party of rules and regulations and it is important that we endeavor to use same to address whatever concerns we have because we are one people with a common destiny of making this party strong”, Papa Yaw stressed.
