Prosecute Ex- NDC Officials If They Are Corrupt-Fiifi Kwetey …
Member of Parliament for the Ketu South Constituency, Fiifi Kwetey, says the failure of the government to so far prosecute any former government official is because it has no evidence of corruption whatsoever against anyone.
He stressed that, prior to the election of President Nana Akufo-Addo, the New Patriotic Party made zealous corruption allegations against government officials under the John Mahama administration.
“We should not do things in such a way to seem as if we are after our political opponents”. But Hon. Kwetey said was surprised in spite of the allegations made against former government officials, the government has failed within three years to take anyone to court, saying “they have failed woefully because as we speak now, they have not been able to take any one to court,” Fiifi Kwetey told Kwaku Owusu Adjei on ‘Pae Mu Ka’ on Accra-based Kingdom FM 107.7
He reacted to threats from the NPP government, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to prosecute alleged corrupt appointees of his erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC) led government, stating that, they were prepared to render account of their stewardship.
“Ironically, this is a man who rode on the back of an anti-corruption campaign into office, promising not to tolerate or countenance same under his administration,’ “he added
Fiifi Kwetey further noted that, members of his administration were not scared of accountability, which was a cardinal principle on which the NDC was found and as such were ready to have their day in court.
