Government has revealed that the first phase of investigations into the alleged breaches of the Power Distribution Services (PDS) concession agreement has been completed.
Minister for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah who made this known on Adom FM’s morning show, “Dwaso Nsem” Thursday said the team that travelled to DOHA-Qatar are done with their work.
He said the second team that has also been tasked to engage with the American government through its agency, the Millennium Challenge Corporation, was on course to complete its task.
“We have completed the first phase of the investigations. The delegation that went to Qatar has returned and has completed its work. We are still engaging the team tasked to go and talk to the American government and wehope to work together to help in this investigations,” he stated.
The government in a statement on Tuesday 30th July 2019 suspended the concession agreement between the Government of Ghana and PDS following some contractual breaches.
Mr Oppong Nkrumah also served notice that the investigations will be completed within 30 days from the day of commencement.
The Minister for Information said the team conducting the inquiry comprises insurance investigation experts, officials of the Energy and Finance Ministries and officials of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) as well as the Millenium Development Authority (MIDA).
The Information Minister also said the final efforts to ensure a smooth transition between ECG and PDS officials were proceeding without incident.
