No Government Official Involved In Airbus Scandal – ND …
The National Communication Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has rubbished claims that former President John Dramani Mahama is the ‘Government Official 1’ as mentioned in the bribery allegation involving European Aviation Giant, Airbus.
Addressing the news conference in Accra Thursday, the National Communication Officer of the party noted that “No ex-government official of Ghana is cited in any part of the report or approved judgments for demanding or receiving a bribe or committing any offense.
“Therefore, to the extent that, the said ‘Government 1’ is not cited for any of the approved judgment, his or her identity is totally immaterial”, he stressed.
However, Sammy Gyamfi described the manner in which the Communication Director for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Yaw Buaben Asamoah jumped to pass judgment on the flagbearer for the NDC as pathetic and most reckless adding that “no serious-minded person would draw conclusions based on conjecture and willful misinterpretation of the Approved Judgment of the UK Crown Court”.
He, therefore, urged the ruling party NPP to halt diverting the attention of Ghanaians from scandalous illegal mining activities involving their top NPP officials ostensibly to generate money for the NPP.
“The Airbus matter is nothing like the recent conclusively established corruption cases, such as the doling out of a whopping GHS 136 million for the private hotel project of the in-law of President Akufo-Addo, Dr. Nyantakyi, the missing excavators’ scandal, the missing 400 tricycles scandal, just to mention few”, he argued.
