The Minister for Defense, Dominic Nitiwul has hit back at the opposition NDC and their Flagbearer over claims that government deployed military officers to only Volta Region due to the upcoming voter’s registration exercise.
He describe the comments as mischievous and a mire propaganda to disgrace the government.
According to him, the opposition is peddling falsehoods all in the name of politics as he claims the government has no intentions attacking any tribe in Ghana.
The Minority members of Parliament and the Flagbearer of the NDC claimed earlier that, ‘’government intentionally deploy military officers to only Volta Region with the intention of intimidating Voltarian’s ahead of the upcoming voter’s registration exercise.’’
Speaking at the Meet the press series of the Information Ministry in Accra, Mr Nitiwul stressed that, ‘’the operation of joint military and other security taskforce has been in existence for some time now but these recent team were sent to all the various border towns of the country during the border restrictions by the president due to the COVID 19 to prevent others from illegal entering into the Country.
He therefore urged the Chiefs and people of the Volta Region not to be deceived by the lies and propaganda of the opposition as he added that,’’ government will ensure that everyone in the country will be registered in the new voter registration exercise.’’
Mr Nitiwul also used the opportunity to give a breakdown of military personnels that have been deployed to all the various border towns to ensure that all unapproved roots are secured to prevent any illegal immigrants into the Country.
