National Health Care System Powered by Technology: Putting …
The Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) believes Ghanaians should have the best doctors and hospitals, the most innovative medical technology, and the best scientists on the continent. One of our major goals is to ensure Ghanaians are healthy and live longer.
We will also make sure patients are provided with the best medical information available, so they can make the right decision about their health. The Liberal Party of Ghana believes control of the health care system should be given to the patients and their health care providers.
Ghanaian families are dissatisfied with the current state of health care, simply because government resources and management are inadequate. It is not enough to offer only increased access to a system that costs the country too much money and does not work for millions of Ghanaians.
The LPG goal is more ambitious: Better and more efficient health care at a lower cost:
•Our government will invest heavily in the area of technology. The delivery of medical services by health care providers must be powered by next generation technologies.
•We will work to reduce child mortality, improve maternal health, and combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases.
•We will encourage health care professionals to design programs that emphasize wellness and disease prevention.
•We will ensure best practice standards within the health care industry. The LPG believes health care providers must always offer the best customer and professional services available anywhere in the industry.
•We will transform Ghana into a medical tourism center with 100 new state-of-the-art, ultra modern hospitals.
•We will improve the existing national health insurance system by providing the necessary technology, equipment and skilled personnel to eradicate nationwide corruption.
•We will invest heavily in more than 230 new medical centers, plus at least 530 new ambulance vehicles.
•We will invest time into changing the herbal medicine industry to meet global standards.
Ghana as a Medical Tourism Centre
Ghana will become a Medical Tourism Center with 10 new state-of-the-art, ultra modern hospitals. The LPG government hopes to encourage a budding trade in medical tourism, encouraging foreigners to travel to Ghana for low-cost, world-class medical treatment.
It will no longer be necessary for Africans on the continent to travel outside for medical screening and care.
Improving Herbal Medicine Industry
The LPG will support investment to help develop a herbal medicine industry in the country that is powered by technology and meets the global standards. The LPG believes the herbal medicine industry has the potential to save lives and create wealth and jobs for industry practitioners.
