Jean Mensa Not Fit To Be EC Boss- Kwaku Boahen
Deputy National Communication Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Anthony Kwaku Boahen, has lamented about the managerial style of the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) Jean Mensa for refusing to take into consideration the opposing views of some Ghanaians and the various political parties under the umbrella of Inter-Party Resistance against the New Voter’s Register.
NDC’s Kwaku Boahen who appears shocked at the intransigence of the Electoral Commission (EC) consistence decision by the EC to compile a new voter’s register vows that, any attempt by the EC, headed by Jean Mensa, to compile a new voter’s register on the back of Ghana Card would be resisted.
Speaking in an interview with Reynolds Agyemang on ‘Pae Mu Ka’ on Accra based Kingdom FM 107.7 he argued that “If not money laundering, wickedness and incompetency, then what is the essence of compiling a new voter’s register when the current register is credible and genuine”
However, the Deputy Communication Officer expressed his doubt over the EC’s ability to demonstrate neutrality in their work to manage the election management body.
He indicated that, “Jean Mensah is an NPP member and therefore she has a soft spot for the ruling NPP”
Making reference to the 1992 Constitution, he stated that the Electoral Commission has to submit a copy of the newly compiled register to the various political parties in the country 28 days before the election time is due.
Adding that, “the needed and necessary tools and equipment which would give the elections management body the power to compile a new voters’ roll ahead of the December polls are not ready.
