Ghana Receives Madagascar’s COVID-Organics, Efficacy T …
The Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has said that, they have reached an agreement with Madagascar government to make available a purported coronavirus herbal cure, COVID-Organics.
According to him, the consignment will be sent to the necessary regulatory bodies for tests before a decision on administering it will be made.
“#AskTheInfoMinistry on Assessing Government’s Response to the Covid19 Pandemic,” the Minister said: “We are considering it [the herbal cure]. We have reached out to them [Madagascar]. We have asked that it [should] be made available to us and like all drugs, it will be tested by FDA and in this case by the Center for Plant Medicine and if proven efficacious, we can recommend its use.”
Government had been lambasted after the Ministry of Information’s official Twitter handle wrongly quoted Oppong Nkrumah as saying that “We have received the Madagascar cure for COVID-19 and we are testing it for efficacy.”
Madagascar donated a consignment of the controversial cure to the West African bloc, ECOWAS. The donation was sent through Guinea-Bissau. A number of countries have received their supplies according to reports.
The ECOWAS Commission weeks back dismissed reports that it had ordered for the cure. It said it supported traditional efforts for medical cure but would only endorse scientifically approved drugs.
