Communication Team Member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mahdi Gibrill, has called on government to quickly address the challenges that the Free Senior High School programme faces.

“We are always excited at any initiative that will lessen the financial burden on students and by extension parents, so we are increasingly getting worried as we hear of widespread infrastructural and funding challenges which are impacting negatively on teaching and learning in our high schools,” Mahdi Gibrill told Kwaku Dawuro on Anopa Nkomo on Accra-based Kingdom FM 107.7

He noted that he had always stood for quality free SHS and claims that the NDC would not cancel the free SHS programme, since NDC started the programme with day students during his administration.

“These days nothing works, whether as a farmer, trader, driver or mechanic, the hardships are unbearable everywhere, we have to go back for the NDC.’’
