Finance Minister Includes Volta Region In 2020 Budget

Finance Minister, Ken Ofori, Friday afternoon amended the 2020 Annual Budget which was presented last Wednesday, 13th November 2019 at Parliament.
Ken Ofori Atta explained to the House that, his attention was drawn to an omission of the Volta Region from the list of critical roads listed in table twenty one (21) of the budget statement by Hon. Volta Regional Minister, Archibald Yao Letsa and the Energy Minister, John Peter Amewu soon after the presentation on that very day.
He further added that all the Regional Ministers were requested to submit a list of critical roads that require immediate attention.

He said, three road projects which were submitted by the Volta Regional Minister were prioritized in the list of critical roads from the Volta Region for the year 2020 and has, therefore, come to Parliament to amend table twenty-one (21) to include the critical roads in the Volta Region as originally agreed on.
Mr. Ofori Atta named these roads as Asikuma Harveh (45kms), Harveh- Hohoe -Jasikan (83kms) and Ho-Djejeh (99kms).
He categorically stated that the inclusion of these roads would not increase the proposed 2020 appropriation because they are already included in the budget estimate for 2020.
He went on to mention some of the other important road projects in the Volta region which are programmed in 2020 as indicated in paragraph 867 868 and 869 in the 2020 budget statement.
The Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu commended the Finance Minister for such a swift correction in doing the needful.
He added that, even though the needful has been done, it was not the will of the Finance Minister to come to Parliament but the pressure through the press conference which was held Thursday by the Minority Volta Caucus and must commend them as such for their good work as Minority.
