NDC National Communication Team Member, Koku Mawuli Nenegbe has said that the retired  Auditor-General, Mr. Daniel Yaw Domelevo competence at his post will forever be remembered for fighting corruption in the country, all though we can cannot conclude that his time in office was perfect.

‘’Since 1992 in Ghana’s constitution until today if you ask people about one person who stands to fight corruption I think Domelevo will stand out’’ he noted.

According to him, Domelevo has been one of the finest Auditor-General who has worked to fight corruption hence he has worked hard to protect our finances and so whenever his name is mentioned, we can all remember the good work he aided in fighting corruption in the country.

‘’Domelevo was a good man but that doesn’t mean he never made a mistake when he was at post, we all do mistakes because we are humans and mistakes are part of human life’’he said.

This comes after Domelevo was directed to start his leave on 1st of July by the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on June 29, 2020.

After eight months, he resumed work on the 3rd of March 2021 but was asked to proceed on retirement by the President on the same day with claims that his date of birth indicated that he was up for retirement long ago.

Speaking on Accra base Kingdom fm Pae Mu Ka with Renold Agyemang , explain that on several occasions Domelevo complained to the government that his office is being undermined by other government entities and urged the government to stand up and investigate the matter but till date nothing has been done.

He noted that Domelevo on some occasion wrote letter to President Akufo-Addo explaining what the Audit Service Board Chairman Prof. Edward Duah Agyeman, was doing after he audited the books of NHIA. Adding that Domelevo wanted to take the matter to court, but for respect he call on His Excellency Nana Addo to intervene on the matter since 2018 till now nothing has being made.

‘’Domelevo stood on the ground to fight corruption for the country, I believe support from the government was not enough’’ he added.

Kofi Ntiamoah encouraged Ghanaians to give support to whoever will be given the Auditor-General office and not see it as politice.
