COVID-19: Asiedu Nketia Accuses Oppong Nkrumah Of Massaging …
The General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketia has accused the Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah of massaging figures of the number of people infected with COVID-19 also known as coronavirus.
According to him, the Ghana Health Service and Information Minister are “hiding” the truth from Ghanaians due to government’s “poor” measures to fight the spread of the virus.
“For me, I don’t believe the numbers they have put out, cases recoded here is more than what they are saying. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah and his government are just massaging the figures of the infected patients they don’t want to tell us the truth,’’ Johnson Asiedu Nketia exclusively told Kwame Tutu on Anopa Nkomo on Accra-based Kingdom FM 107.7
But the NDC chief scribe is doubtful by the number of cases put out by the government hence he believes the government is not telling Ghanaians the truth.
Asiedu Nketia, stifling the people of relevant information only creates a fertile ground for rumours and misinformation.
Ghana has recorded 70 more cases of Coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases to 636, Ghana Health Service (GHS) has confirmed.
“The breakdown of the 636 positive cases are as follows: seventeen (17) have been treated, reverted to negative on repeat tests and discharged, 605 cases have been categorised as mild disease and are on treatment, two (2) are categorized as moderate to severe cases, none in critical state currently and eight (8) have died,” information on GHS’s website reads.
It adds: “Of the 636 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 268 were reported from the routine surveillance, 253 from enhanced surveillance activities and 115 from travellers under mandatory quarantine in both Accra and Tamale.”
