Ranking Member on Foreign Affairs in Parliament, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has said the raise of Coronavirus in Ghana is due to President Akufo-Addo’s negligence.
According to him, when the disease started in China, President Akufo-Addo should have taken proactive measures and prevented it from coming to Ghana.
“The North Tongu Member of Parliament (MP) is convinced if the government had evacuated the students and strictly adhered to World Health Organisation evacuation protocols, “we would all be safe.”
“No Ghanaian student in Wuhan has tested positive for coronavirus so how would they have infected us? It is rather the floodgates we opened for all kinds of people to come in that brought us where we are,” he told Asempa FM
“It didn’t make sense that we were refusing to evacuate our nationals yet foreigners were coming in droves,” he added.
However, he blamed President Akufo-Addo for not closing the borders earlier to control the spread of the Coronavirus disease.
According to the Ghana Health Service, the three (3) new COVID-19 cases were confirmed on the 20th March 2020 with being reported from Greater Accra Region and one from Ashanti Region.
