Akufo-Addo Has Being Lenient With Carlos Ahenkorah –Mauric …
Renowned Ghanaian legal practitioner, Maurice Ampaw has opined that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has being lenient with the Member of Parliament for Tema East, Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah for asking him to resign after violating COVID-19 protocols.
The deputy minister for Trade and Member of Parliament for Tema East Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah was given an ultimatum by the President to resign or be fired.
He resigned on Friday after he breached Covid-19 protocols.
In a statement from the presidency, president Nana Akufo-Addo acknowledged accepting the Tema West MP’s resignation from office with immediate effect.
But according to Maurice Ampaw, the President was very mild with him in terms of punishment hence was supposed to allow the laws of the country to deal with him for flouting the coronavirus protocols.
He stressed that, “The comments by Hon. Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah was very irresponsible hence he was supposed to know better as a Minister,’’ Lawyer Maurice Ampaw exclusively told Reynold Agyemeng on ‘Pae Mu Ka’ on Accra-based Kingdom FM 107.7
‘’ I believe the President has being very lenient with him in terms of punishment.’’
The former Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry granted interviews to several radio stations in Accra, confirming he visited registration centres despite his positive Covid-19 status.
