Deputy Energy Minister nominee, Andrew Kofi Egyapa Mercer has admitted his hard work in the legal practice for the past sixteen (16) years at the bar, toppled with his position on the Finance committee of Parliament and his rapport with the chief and people from the western Region earned him his appointment as deputy Energy Minister-designate pending Parliamentary assent.
He said, his expertise will lay bare the improvement in the energy sector and this will help solve some challenges confronting the energy ministry, in order for President Akufo-Addo’s promise of a stable power generation to be achieved.
“I believe I was selected due to my background as a lawyer which will complement and support the substantive minister responsible for energy to execute the mandate of the president as it has been outlined in the manifesto.
In an interview with Kwaku Dawuro on Accra – Based Kingdom FM ”Anopa Nkomo’’ he said he is elated by the decision by the President to nominate him as one of the three deputies.
“It is humbling that amongst the lots he settled on me as one of the people who he has nominated and with the blessings of parliament if I am confirmed to go in there and to help the energy minister to archive the President mandate.”
Mr. Mercer added that with the mandate given to him he will work tremendously to help improve the energy sector.
This comes after President Akufo – Addo elected 39 deputy ministers under 24 portfolios, with ten of the nominees being women.
