The President of Ministers of Ghana Baptist Conference and Senior Pastor of Victory Baptist Church, Reverend Charles Owusu Ampofo has charged Christian leaders to be selfless rather than being selfish in their conduct.
Speaking during the commissioning of some newly elected deacons and committee workers of the church last Sunday, Rev Ampofo noted that true leaders display acts of selflessness no matter how distressed they may be.
Explaining further in his sermon, the Servant of God outlined five principles of leadership and urged that leaders should know that all gifts and abilities come from God.
Rev Ampofo stated that not everyone has the same ability to do whatever one may be doing, adding that each leader must know his or her strengths so they can polish and function in same efficiently.
‘’As leaders we must learn to know our strengths, capacities as well as weaknesses and work on them to perform at optimum levels for God’’, the leader of Victory Baptist Church posited.
Stressing further, Rev Ampofo noted that being a selfless leader meant one would wholly dedicate his or her life to God.
This dedication, he intimated also meant that one would ultimately commit to using abilities and talents to serve others in the building of God’s Kingdom.
He urged leaders never to hold back anything or gift they are good at from God or for the furtherance of God’s Kingdom on earth.
The Minister of the Lord asked leaders to be unifying forces in the ministries they head or lead so as to be able to influence those they lead.
‘’It is important that as leaders we demonstrate our passion for the Lord by serving with all our talents and gifts without any thought of holding back so that we would be good influencers on the people of God’’, the Baptist preacher stressed.
Before last Sunday’s ceremony, a workshop had been organized for the new leaders of the church.
Participants were taken through presentations and teachings on leadership as well as conflict management.
Other important topics such as stewardship and the role of a leader were discussed with the newly elected 8 deacons and 4 deaconesses by resource persons from the Baptist Church.
