GOVT TO RECRUIT 20,000 NURSES BY CLOSE OF YEAR- DR OKO BOYE
The Deputy Minister for Health, Dr Bernard Okoe Boye has stated that, the finance ministry has given financial clearance to the health ministry for the recruitment of over 20,000 nurses to support the health sector this year.
He stated that, it is expect that, all these nurses will be recruited this year for them to come and help bridge the nurses to patient’s ratio as prescribed by the world health organization.
The MP for Ledzokuku was speaking at the launch of International 2020 Nurse’s Day and mark of the 60th Anniversary Celebration which was held in Accra.
Speaking to the gathering, Dr Okoe Boye touted the government’s achievements in the health sector as he says since the NPP came into office; over 36,000 nurses have been employed and are currently working.
He commended nurses for their continuous support and sacrifice for the country as he says no health facility could survive with the support of nurses.
Dr Okoe Boye there stressed that, government will not break the supply chain of Personal Protective Equipment’s (PPE’s) to the nurses since they need it every now and then especially in the fight against the coronavirus.
