E/R: Kwakye Darfour Confirms 28 Positive COVID-19 Cases
The Eastern Regional Minister and MP for Nkawkaw, Eric Kwakye Darfour, has disclosed that 28 from over 200 workers of a company charged to construct railway from Tema in the Greater Accra Region to Akosombo in the Eastern region has tested positive for deadly coronavirus.
According to him, most of the coronavirus cases recorded in the Eastern region are from the AFCON Construction Company in the Lower Manya Krobo district.
“ I have being informed by the Regional Health Directorate of the Easter Region that 28 people have tested positive for coronavirus disease and most of the cases are from the Indian company who are working from Accra to Akosombo,’’ Eric Kwakye Darfour exclusively told Kwaku Dawuro on ‘Pae Mu Ka ‘on Accra-based Kingdom FM 107.7
“ Several samples have being sent to the Noguchi Memorial Institute for medical research and we are waiting for the results, am urging all the people in the Eastern Region to be calm and adhere to the precautionary measures by Ghana Health Service,’’he added.
The Eastern Regional Health Directorate on April 9, 2020, announced that it had submitted a total of 373 samples of suspected coronavirus cases in the region to the Noguchi Memorial Institute, awaiting results.
Out of the number, 244 samples were taken from contacts connected to the Indian expatriate.
Ghana’s coronavirus case count stands at 378 as of Thursday, April 9, 2020.
