Use Due Process In Installation Of Chiefs-House Of Chiefs to …

President of the Bono Ahafo regional House of Chiefs and Omanhene for Yeji Traditional area, Pimampim Yaw Kagbrese V has advised Kingmakers in various traditional areas to follow due and customary processes in the nomination, selection and installation of chiefs to avoid needless litigation on Chieftaincy.

He said the Chieftaincy institution in Ghana is a system that structures and regulates the activity of local chieftains in the Ghanaian society, hence needs to be respected. According to him, truth, transparency and due process are essential elements in decision making in regards to selection of a chief.

Nana Pimampim Kagbrese made this remarks during the swearing in of Daasebre Okogyeaman Doudu Ampem II, chief of Nsawkwa to the regional house of chiefs.

“The House consist of 50 members and there were 43 cases pending before the judicial committee as at 31st December last year. At the moment, the total number of cases pending before the committee are 46 comprising of 40 petitions and 6 appeals meanwhile only one case has been resolve due to the COVID-19”.

He later urged the members of the House to help the campaign in their respective traditional areas to fight the COVID-19 disease as the disease is no respecter of persons. He therefore advised Ghanaians to follow the various COVID-19 safety protocols to reduce the spread of the disease.
