 More Than  20 Rescued From Burning Boat At Biriwa

A total of 25 people were rescued from a fishing boat that caught fire in the middle of the sea at Biriwa in the Mfantsiman Municipal District in the Central Region on Tuesday July 14.

Recounting on the incident, the Assembly Member of the Biriwa area Gilbert Mensah told Kingdom FM‘s reporter Osiadeyo Adu Gyamfi Marfo that “we received a call from one of the victim who had a phone on him that the boat ‘Fear God’ was in distress after a fire broke out on board.

According to the Assembly Member of the boat was approximately 30 feets  at the middle of the sea when the incident occurred.

He said the fire is suspected to have caused by a faulty generator which was started by the Fishermen to aid their expedition.

Gilbert Mensah further added that the crew of the ‘Fear God’ boat have been successfully rescued by some residents of Biriwa Municipality who went to the scene to render assistance.
