The first Founders’ Day celebration of the new decade came off successfully in Koforidua and Accra as publicized.
For the first time in so many years, attendance was impressive from Year Groups who beat the evening rush hour traffic to be at the Mass held at the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Accra.
Earlier, members of the POJOBA community and the school had organized a mass in Koforidua to commemorate the occasion.
The Founders’ Day mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Alphonse Bulloro of the Catholic Youth Formation Centre, Lashibi and in a sermon preached by Rev. Fr. Kpanie Addy, SJ
(Director of Arrupe Jesuit Institute, Ghana) he highlighted the importance of time and information in taking major decisions in life ( marriage, jobs, etc).
Enthusiasm, energy, and pride characterized the entire celebration with participation from Year Groups best described as encouraging for many years.
POJOBA from both “ancient” and “modern” eras were present at the Mass. Notable amongst them were the outgoing National President, Dr. Victor Chawey, R. B.N.A Tagoe (outgoing National organizer) and the National Executives elect led by Isaac Aboagye Duah as well as the chairman of the 60th Anniversary planning Committee Senior Kobby Andah.
During refreshments following the mass, both the outgoing and incoming presidents touched on the need for unity and dedication to the course of the Association.
Dr. Chawey pledged support for the incoming executives and advised that they remain focused on their service to POJOBA.
Members took turns to make suggestions for the consideration of the incoming executives. A call was made for more dynamic programming which should include activities for the University communities as well as spouses of POJOBA.
Senior Kobby Andah and his 60th Anniversary committee was singled out for commendation once again and a call to build upon the legacy of the anniversary to create the needed momentum for the Association.
In a related development, members of POJOBA 1969/74 presented a band set to the school as part of activities marking the Founders Day Celebration at a brief handing over ceremony on the forecourt of the Administration Block with Staff and Students in attendance.
