Must read

Residents of Fabi-Dompoase in the Asokwa Constituency of the Ashanti are resorting to unhygienic sources following a 1-year water shortage in the community.

Residents have to walk long distances to search for potable water.

The Assembly Member for Fabi Dompoase electoral area, Thomas Agyare expressing his grievances in an interview with Ambassador Osei Kwadwo blamed the situation on pipes that were destroyed by Kofi Job Construction Limited during the Construction of Atonsu-Bosomtwe road.

According to Thomas Agyare, the situation has become dire for them since the majority of residents even struggle to get water for bathing and other house chores.

“Exactly a year when major pipes where destroyed by Kofi Job Construction Limited. It is so pathetic that Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) and Kofi Job Construction Limited have failed to find solution to our challenges.

Despite several consultations between me and the Ashanti Regional Minister Hon Simon Osei Mensah, nothing has been done about the issue”, he said.

“Sometimes GWCL supplies us water but that is not a solution. The pipes have to be fixed. We cannot struggle for water each and everyday” He added.

Thomas Agyare explained that “my people are very angry about the situation but I always talked to them to reduce their anger. I don’t want any bloody demonstration in my area. I’m appealing to the Ashanti Regional Minister Hon Simon Osei Mensah and Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) to put measures in place to resolve our issue”.

Some school children who expressed the struggle they go through before getting water to bath before preparing for school told Ambassador Osei Kwadwo that the situation is affecting their education.
