Some Chiefs of Nzema in the Western Region have appealed to President Akufo-Addo to re-appoint Frank Okpenyen as Nzema East Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the next four years.

President Akufo-Addo is expected to nominate his MMDCEs for approval by the Assembly Members to support his government at the local level.

Meanwhile some Ghanaians have started lobbying through the Office of the Presidency to re-appoint some current MMDCEs and also appoint new faces to represent the President at the grassroot level.

In Nzema East Municipality, the Chief of Gwira Eshiem, Nana Kwame Mesu II has said the current Nzema East MCE Frank Okpenyen deserves to be re-appointed to continue to develop the Municipality.

The Chief described Frank Okpenyen as development-oriented, “We the Chiefs don’t politics but when it comes to development we the Chiefs can’t sit aloof, today I will call Hon. Frank Okpenyen as a development-oriented MCE, today through the efforts of Hon. Frank Okpenyen we the people of Kutukrom and its environs can boast of CHPS compound, Nzema East had had a lot of MCEs but this Frank Okpenyen is different”.

“I wish President Akufo-Addo will nominate Hon. Frank Okpenyen again to continue to do his developmental projects, please Mr. President kindly consider Hon. Frank Okpenyen as your MCE for Nzema East”, he pleaded.

The Chief made the appeal at Gwira Eshiem yesterday where the MCE Frank Okpenyen handed over a newly built Community-based Health Planning Service (CHPs) compund to the community to save lives.

Nana Kwame Mesu II expressed his gratitude to the MCE in alleviating their biggest challenge by bringing health care facility to their doorstep.

However, the CHPS compound would survive with the involvement of the community; therefore he called on the people to ensure safety and proper care of the facility by engaging in communal labour.

At Kutukrom, where the MCE Frank Okpenyen inspected the ongoing of Kutukrom-Tebakrom road construction, the Chief of the area, Nana Daniel Kuah commended the MCE and Akufo-Addo-led government for thinking about their deplorable road network.

“I am happy that finally our bad road network is being fixed by the Akufo-Addo government through Hon. Frank Okpenyen, I will pray to God to bless you (Frank Okpenyen), we have been neglected for so many years so if today at your time government is constructing our road for us then you deserve commendation”, he stated.

Nana Daniel Kuah took the opportunity to appeal to His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to re-appoint Frank Okpenyen as Nzema East MCE.

According to the Chief, appointing new person as Nzema East MCE would delay the development of the Municipality especially their road construction.

He, therefore, seized the opportunity to pledge to support the contractor and his workers to complete the road project ob time.

Frank Okpenyen who was the Constituency Secretary of the NPP in Evalue-Ajomoro Gwira in 2016 became the Nzema East Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) in 2017.
