HOMOSEXUALITY IS NOT A SIN – WANLOV KUBOLOR
There is a clear divide in African discourse and scholars pertaining to the issue of homosexuality in African history. One school of thought vehemently states that homophobic relations are un-African, satanic, and perpetuated by evil spirits, even see it as a way through which the west continues her colonial influence on the continent. The other states that homophobic relations may have in fact been an integral part of African history and hence African life.
However, Ghanaian-Romanian musician and film director, Wanlov Kubolor is telling Ghanaians that Homosexuality is not a sin hence the people involved in that act deserve some love and care.
Rallying the call for Ghanaians to treat homosexuals with the respect and love they deserve the controversial musician stressed that, homosexuality existed in Africa even before Colonialism, and we as Africans cannot do away with it.
He told Fiifi Pratt on Accra-based Kingdom Plus 101.9fm that, there is no Bible verse in the New Testament that says homosexuality is a sin so therefore he sees nothing wrong with that act.
According to the Konkonsa hitmaker, he does not think that a demonic spirit of homosexuality is the definitive explanation for believing one is gay.
The issue of homosexuality has lately managed its way through public discussions following the recent opening of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ) office in Accra which brought together some international figures supporting the course of the community.
