Police Hands Over Ajumako DCE To AG For Prosecution

The police have handed over the prosecution of the former District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ajumako Enyan Essiam, Ransford Kwesi Nyarko, and others who were alleged to have physically assaulted a policeman on duty at the Ochiso Police Station in the Ajumako District of the Central Region to the State Attorney.

Investigation has revealed that the transfer of the case to the State Attorney in the Central Region has come about because the complainant is a serving policeman, hence, the police have an interest in the case.

On Friday February 26, 2021, the immediate past Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr James Oppong Boanuh, during a working visit to the Central Region, announced to the rank and file that the Attorney General’s Office in Accra had given the goahead for the former District Chief Executive, Ransford Kwesi Nyarko, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ajumako Constituency Chairman, Robert Crentsil, also known as Bob, and others to be prosecuted for their alleged roles in the assault on the Police Corporal, Frank Mensah, at the Charge Office.

Findings are that even though the Attorney General’s Office in Accra gave the green light for the prosecution to commence, it later met challenges such as a petition to the Law Office which called back the docket.

After a careful study, the Law Office stood its ground for the prosecution to commence. The parties involved were subsequently charged and dragged to court.

The former District Chief Executive, Ransford Emmanuel Kwesi Nyarko’s name appeared as having been re-nominated by His Excellency the President for the position of a Chief Executive the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District.
