A homophobic driver who spat at cyclist has been jailed after being traced through DNA he left on the rider’s clothing.
Faizal Alizada, 23, shouted ‘Oi gay boy!’ at the cyclist, known only as ‘Mr Howard’, from his car while they waited at traffic lights at Notting Hill Gate.
Police were able to match the spit samples left on the rider’s pink Lycra back to his abuser following the attack on 27 March last year.
The 23-year-old, who has previous convictions for common assault and ABH, was brought to court nine months after the attack and convicted on January 24.
He has been jailed for a total of eight weeks.
