4 ARRESTED OVER MURDER OF UG LAW LECTURER, YAW BENNEH
The Greater Accra Regional Police has arrested four persons in connection with the gruesome murder of Prof Emmanuel Yaw Benneh, a senior Law lecturer at the University of Ghana Law Faculty.
The four, all workers at his residence, two cleaners, Christian Pobee, 32, and James Nana Womba, 26; a house help, Isaac Botchwey, 41; and a gardener, Adams Mensah Mansur, 52.
The body of the law lecturer, younger brother of a former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Prof. George Benneh, was discovered in his residence on Saturday morning lying in a pool of blood, with his hands tied behind him and his body bearing cuts all over.
The crime scene investigations team from the Criminals Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has since launched investigations into the circumstances of his murder.
The Public Relation Officer (PRO) of the Accra Regional Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Afia Tenge, said the East Legon police received a report at about 7 a.m. last Saturday that Prof. Benneh had been found dead in his home at Adjiringanor in a pool of blood.
She further added that police will readily inform any development which will not jeopardise the investigations to the public.
