2 Arrested For Not Wearing Nose Masks In Tamale

Two persons have been arrested by the Northern Regional Police Command for failing to comply with the imposition on wearing of nose masks.

The two suspects, Isaiah Sunrise 25, and Ibrahim Musah 60, were arrested on Thursday July 2, 2020 at the forecourt of the Regional Police Headquarters, Tamale in the Northern Region.

Both suspects have since been handed over to the RCID for investigation.

In a statement released by the Police Command , the two suspects were cautioned, charged and released on bail to appear before the Tamale Circuit Court today July 3, 2020.

In an attempt to slow down the spread of the novel coronavirus in the country, the  government has made wearing face masks mandatory in public spaces, with citizens facing a possible fine if caught without one.

As part of the measures to curb the spread of the virus, President Akufo-Addo signed an Executive Instrument criminalizing non-wearing of face mask in public places across the country, with offenders facing a jail term of up to 10 years or a fine of GH¢12,000-GH¢ 60,000 or both.
