The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced additional measures in response to the travel restriction imposed on travelers from Ghana to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The Ministry in a statement signed by the Chief of Protocol, Ambassador Emmanuel Antwi, said the new measures include the use of five approved labs; Leding, Frontiers, Airport Clinic, Akai House, MDS Lancet for the Covid-19 tests for travelers from Accra to UAE.
“Travelers to UAE from Accra would have to show proof of 24-hour negative test results, obtained within 24-hours before the scheduled departure time (Validity must be calculated from time sample was token and only hard copies of such negative results with barcodes for verification would be accepted),” the statement said.
It further noted that passengers will additionally be required to present a negative Covid-19 rapid or rare time PCR test certificate with QR code for a test conducted at the airport within 6-hours of departure from the following approved labs; Leding and Frontiers.
According to the statement, the measures have been proposed by the relevant UAE authorities and are expected to convince the UAE government to reconsider its decision and the travel restrictions of travelers from Ghana to the UAE.
