Spokesperson for Hearts of Oak midfielder Benjamin Afutu Kotey, Derek Nii Asai Ankrah has quashed reports claiming that his client has left the club.
According to him, those reports are false and untrue hence it must be treated with the contempt it deserves.
Afutu, 24, has just a few months left on his running contract at the club and has refused to sign a new deal despite a couple of attempts by the 20-time Ghana Premier League champions.
Derek Nii Asai Ankrah indicated that the combative midfielder has not left the country for greener pastures in Azerbaijan as speculated by section of the Ghanaian media.
“Benjamin Afutu has not left Hearts he is still with the club, am surprise of several reports saying the player is in Azerbaijan those reports are false we are still negotiating with Hearts over contract renewal. He will be training on Monday with Hearts,’’ Derek Nii Asai Ankrah told Jay Jay on Accra-based Kingdom FM107.7
Afutu emerged as one of the top players for the Phobians during last season’s campaign and was widely expected to renew his contract but the latest development means the Phobians have lost him.
