The Deputy Minister for Information, Fatimatu Abubakr, has said the conveners of Arise Ghana Demo should be blame for the clash between the police and the protesters, hence the conveners has the right to ask the protesters to follow the police orders.
” I believe conveners have the right to put measures in place to avoid any clash from the demonstrators and the police, but they did not, adding that they have failed the people and therefore should not blame anyone or the police rather they should blame their own selves” she explained.
Speaking on ”Accra – Kingdom Anopa Nkomo” said the conveners have failed to adequately educate and sensitize protesters on the limitations of their actions on protest grounds as well as the routes set out by the Accra High Court.
She said “As a lawyer I know very well that the rights of every single Ghanaian guaranteed under Article 21 Clause 1d of the 1992 Constitution is such that everyone who wants to protest has the opportunity to do so in this country without anybody trampling upon their rights.
She noted that every Ghanaian has the right to demonstrate in a peaceful manner but not violence and follow the rules and orders.
Her comment comes after the Arise Ghana Demonstration which ended with a clash between the protesters and the police.
