The King of the Dancehall confirmed his participation in the great comeback of “Bhim Concert” alongside Stonebwoy in a little endorsement video posted on the internet. Though they’ve shared the spotlight and worked in the past, this appears to be one of the first instances the two great musicians have performed together on one enormous stage.
Beenie Man’s venture into Ghanaian music began with his collaboration with Stonebwoy on the song “Shuga” in 2019. The two linked over the explosive rhythm, each delivering their own verses, adding yet another recording to the many excellent cross-Atlantic musical collaborations between West Africa and Jamaica that have been going on for years.
Beenie Man has been announced as the headline act for Stonebwoy’s well-attended hallmark event, which will take place on December 1, 2021, at the Grand Arena, Accra International Conference Centre.
Stonebwoy’s and his Burniton Music Group organize the annual event, which is now in its fifth year. The highly-attended performance is part of his strategy to promote his own brand, local musicians (both established and up-and-comers), or bands, as well as communicate with his grassroots customers while highlighting Ghana’s musical diversity.
The concert, which the organizers describe as an “experiential haven,” is part of a growing portfolio of year-end activities that allow Africa’s massive diaspora audiences to mingle with their resident African middle-class counterparts at some of the continent’s biggest parties in Ghana, according to the organizers. It will feature an all-star lineup of Ghanaian musicians.
