Don Jazzy, a veteran music producer, has spoken out about how one of his artists, Wande Coal, left his record company in 2013.
Wande Coal’s departure from Mo’hits, renamed ‘Mavin,’ left Don Jazzy distraught, he claimed in a recent interview on The Afrobeat Podcast, since he (Wande Coal) was like a child he reared and he had to let him leave as an adult.
“Wande Coal is a genius and a great vocalist,” he says, “who we discovered when we went to a play in UNILAG.”
“Whether amicable or not, every parting hurts. Wande’s exit resembled that of a child who has been trained and now needs to leave as an adult. It stings because I had to rebuild everything from the ground up, even friendships. You know how much Wande’s departure bothered me because I had to tweet about it.” Jazzy remarked.
