Former  Municipal  Chief  Executive  [MCE]  for  Ga  Central  Municipality  in  the  Greater  Accra, Dr.  Emmanuel  Lamptey says  street  lights  on  the  Awoshie – Pokuase highway  would be  working in March, 2022.

According to him, the  Technical   Capacity   and  the  Financial  resources  impeded  the   Assembly’s  functions  to  make  sure  the  lights  are  working.

In an interview with Okogyeabour Ocran on Accra-based Kingdom Ghana Kwanso, said

‘’ It’s unfortunate some residents destroy the underground cables that connect the street light to function’’ This he said has made work difficult for operators to fix.

Dr.  Emmanuel  Lamptey explained that, the  17KM  Road  which  was    funded  by  the  African  Development  Fund  [ADF] and  the  Ghana  government  with  the  Huge Sum of $132m  under the  Late President  J.E. A  Mills administration in 2011.

Adding that, the faulty traffic lights will be fixed “It has been long overdue. I have complained to the authorities to fix the light in order to end an unwanted road accident. The light has been off for almost about four years now and it has not been fixed

”some of the  Control  Panels  for  the  traffic  lights  were   out  dated  ones  and  got  spoilt  along  the  line  but  the   report  from  the  Urban  Roads  to  the assembly  revealed  that,  One  control  Panel  will  cost  the  state  $ 38,000” he explain.

Responding  to  the  encroachment of the   pedestrians  walk  ways  by  some  traders, Dr. Emmanuel  attributed  it  to  recalcitrance on  the part  of  the  people as  he  says  he  has  personally  warned  them  but  they  refused  to  listen.
