Thomas Tuchel has hinted at the possibility of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe leaving Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
The pair have constantly been linked with moves to Real Madrid, but Tuchel would rather they stay first of all.
Mbappe said last weekend that he may have to leave the French club in order to have more responsibility during a speech at the Ligue 1 awards.
“[Mbappe] has big goals and lots of confidence and he decided make that speech,” Tuchel said. “He’s very intelligent and knows what he’s doing and, on the other hand, he is invited to take more responsibility.
“Each player is invited to [take responsibility]. You don’t need to ask for this in a speech. He’s a special player, he wants to score, score, score… and have every trophy possible.
“Special players are like this and we have to accept that. I’m not angry.
“That’s football! Yes, as a coach, I want them [to stay], but we’re attentive. We’re not gullible, clubs want to sign lots of players.
“But, if you ask me as a coach, yes I want them to be here next season. But if that doesn’t happen, we will find solutions.”
Mbappe can still win the European Golden Boot on Friday when PSG play Reims in the final day of the Ligue 1 season. The forward is currently four goals behind Lionel Messi‘s total of 36.
“[Scoring] four goals is difficult,” Tuchel said. “If we say that we’re going to score four goals so that Kylian can win [the Golden Boot], it would show a lack of respect for our opponent. It’s an objective for Kylian, but it’s not realistic.”
